Some reasons for completing a SEND7 form:
· Change the grounds of appeal - for example adding Sections B and/or F to your appeal
· An extension to comply with a direction
· A change of setting of which you wish to appeal
· To change the final hearing date
These are some examples but for any changes this form will need to be completed.
Before submitting the SEND 7 you must have consulted the other party, this will be the Local Authority and the contact at the Local Authority will be someone at NP Law.
You need to give them 5 working days to reply, and their reply will need to be included with this form.
At the start of the form, the parent, carer or young person needs to fill in the name of the person the appeal is about.
The appeal number, which will be at the top at the case directions.
The type of appeal, for example, a Section I appeal.
The local authority, the parent, carer or young person is appealing against. So, this would be Norfolk County Council.
The final hearing date.
The date he sent the request for change to the local authority.
And the parent carer must tick the box if the hearing has been previously adjourned.
Next the parent, carer or young person needs to tick the box or boxes that are relevant to the request they're making. For example, if the parent, carer or young person would like to request an earlier hearing date, they would tick the ‘A change to the final hearing date’ box.
Next, the parent, carer or young person must give details of the changes they are requesting. This could be something such as an extension to submit final evidence.
The parent, carer, or young person should then complete the date of the request and tick the box of who is making the request.
Finally, a copy of the completed form needs to be sent to send@justice.gov.uk and copy in the local authority, which will be a contact at NP Law.
Send the form using the following format in the subject line:
Current hearing date, appeal number, the child or young person's full name, subject.
For example: 'HD 11/11/2025 | EH 936/23/05667 | Jo Bloggs | SEND7
It is really important to remember to copy in the local authority, which will be someone at NP Law.
